Bendy Brook Farm

I just found this farm on facebook through my sister in law. Check out Bendy Brook!

Here is what they posted on their facebook page:
Bendy Brook Farm is located in the beautiful Oley Valley. We offer premium grassfed beef, goats, and pastured poultry. All of our animals are hormone-free and the land is chemical-free.

When I buy meat, I purchase from Applegate Farms. Click here to read "Fifteen Things You Can Tell Your Mother About Applegate Farms."

Featured Article: Leading Animal Welfare Standards

I found this article posted on the Whole Foods website today. Click here to view.

The article also led me to the Global Animal Partnership. Check it out if you are interested in where your food comes from and how animals are raised.

Here's what is says on their website:
Global Animal Partnership, a nonprofit charitable organization founded in 2008, brings together farmers, scientists, ranchers, retailers, and animal advocates—a diverse group with the common goal of wanting to improve the welfare of animals in agriculture. Our signature program, the 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating Standards, recognizes and rewards producers for their welfare practices, promotes and facilitates continuous improvement, and better informs consumers about the production systems they choose to support. To date, nearly 1,200 operations, raising more than 140 million animals annually, have been audited and certified to our higher welfare Step standards by independent, third-party certification companies.

Featured Lunch/Dinner Plate: Spaghetti and "Meatballs"

Spaghetti and "Meatballs"

I make spaghetti and "meatballs" using Muir Glen's No Salt Added Tomato Sauce and Bionaturae's whole wheat spaghetti. If you are looking for gluten free products, Bionaturae makes gluten free pasta!  I found Nate's Zesty Italian Meatless Meatballs at Wegmans. They are a great meat alternative.

Here is a related cooking lesson video from a show that Oprah did. It shows how to make "meatless meat sauce."

Tension Tamer Tea

Mmm...I love this tea! It is so relaxing. Here is what Celestial Seasonings has to say about it:

“This comforting blend begins with eleuthero, an Asian herb popular for centuries because of the sense of calm and well being it imparts. We’ve added cooling peppermint, spicy ginger and tangy lemons to create a remarkably uplifting herbal blend. Bring harmony to your hectic day with a cup of this flavorful and restorative tea.” — Charlie Baden, Celestial Seasonings Blendmaster Since 1975

Fitness

As everyone knows, exercise is an important factor in a healthy lifestyle. I am guilty of not being as active as I should be... I need to make a commitment to work on that this year. When I am feeling ambitious, I hook up with this lovely lady. She lets me call her names when she trains me, and that is mainly why I like her.

Flatbread Pizza

Now, who can live without pizza? Honestly. I was first introduced to this brand at Whole Foods in Utah. Sadly, they do not carry it on the east coast.

BUT, I did find American Flatbread based in New Hampshire. It is carried at Whole Foods & Kimberton Whole Foods in PA.

Bread

Love, love, love these two brands. Both brands are in the frozen food section.

Food For Life (I use their Sprouted Whole Grain Flourless Burger Buns and Sprouted Grain Tortillas)

French Meadow
They have Women & Men's specific breads. Ryan & I both love them! They sell it at Wegmans and if you are out in Park City, UT they have it at Whole Foods.

Quinoa

Quinoa is very nutritious. You can find it in just about any grocery store. Here is more information about quinoa.

Pearl Barley

Check out all the goodness that Pearl Barley offers! I have been using this brand.

All About Lentils

Lentils are one of my favorite staples. Here is a brand that I purchase from Whole Foods. Check out their website for nutrition information about lentils, recipes and more!
